A mini-bang event for the Helluva Boss fandom. Hosted by Marlo and P, with love.
so... what is this?
A bang is essentially a collaborative event between writers and artists. After signups, writers are asked to come up with a fanfiction plot and provide a synopsis. Based on these, artists will be able to claim the fic idea they like most, so that they can make art based on it! Learn more about bangs on the Fanlore page.
Posting will be done through AO3, where we will create a dedicated collection. Organization will happen through a Discord server.
rules
for writers
Fics are to be a minimum of 3k words. There is no upper wordcount limit. The story should be self-standing and self-contained, and will have to be uploaded to its completion. Multichapters are allowed, but the entire fic will have to be posted at once.
All ratings are welcome. Given the very likely presence of explicit content, the event is not open to anyone under 18.
NSFW content of minor or aged-down characters is not allowed, nor are ships between adult and minor characters.
for artists
The minimum is one art piece to go along with the claimed fic.
Traditional and digital mediums are both allowed. Illustrations, paintings, comic pages, animatics and animations are all welcome. Whatever you make, the art piece should be clean and legible and a minimum of 1000x1000 px.

Use of AI is forbidden.
This is not an anonymous challenge, so posting about your WIP on social media is allowed. Finished products should be however saved for the posting date.

Sunday, August 18th, midnight PST to Wednesday, September 18th, 11.59 pm PST — signups are open.Thursday, September 19th, midnight PST — official starting date. This is when synopses are due for writers.Friday, September 20th, 3 pm PST to Monday, September 24th, 3 pm PST — viewing period. Artists will be able to browse the synopses before claiming one.Tuesday, September 24th, 3pm PST to Monday, October 1st, 3 pm PST — artists will be able to go through the synopses and claim one. This will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.Tuesday, October 1st — introduce yourself to your partner(s)!Friday, November 1st — check-in from the mods to ensure everything is coming along well.Sunday, December 1st, 11.59 pm PST — completion date. Can I participate if I don't have Discord?
Sadly, no. Discord is however free to download and sign up to, so you should think about it!
How big will the teams be?
Generally, they will be made up of one writer and one artists. Artists will be allowed to pick more than one story if they so wish, provided they can commit to finishing multiple artworks, so some teams might have 3+ people.
Are crossovers and AUs allowed?
Crossovers with other media are ok, as long as every character in the fic is from Helluva Boss. All crossovers with Hazbin Hotel are allowed. All AUs are allowed.
Are stories including OCs allowed?
Yes, as long as at least one canonical character also appears in the fic.
Can I prompt a story I've already written?
As long as it hasn't been posted anywhere, yes. If it's already on AO3 or other websites, then no.
Can I prompt a sequel to a story I've already written/posted?
No. Every story should be a standalone (that is, it shouldn't require preliminary reading to be enjoyed or understood).
Can I get started on my writing before the official starting date?
Yes. In fact, you are encouraged to.
